About Us

How did we become a Fusion Family?

Fusion are a club from Thurrock, Essex that started in 2015 with three small Junior teams. After many years of being involved in netball herself, Head Coach Chloe decided to start a Fusion adventure alongside some young and passionate players and keen volunteers.

After some careful planning, organisation and administration, kits were picked, players were registered and September 2015 saw them enter the Thurrock League for the first time!

Who can believe we're 10 next year? Over the last 9 and a bit years our sea of red has grown and developed!

We now have over 20 teams playing across Thurrock Junior and Senior Leagues with Fusion being Senior Summer Div 1 WINNERS and Junior Summer Div 1 Runners up.

Our league teams start from year 3, with training in year 1 and 2.

Our Alpha Squads, which play in the Essex Met League and U14/16 in the East Region Youth League.

With the growth of the club, we’ve watched our coaching team grow too. Back in 2015 we started with our Head Coach, Chloe and we now have 8 England Netball Level One Qualified coaches, 6 England Netball Level Two Qualified coaches and 15 young volunteers being developed by our internal programme and England Netball's Pass on Your Passion, with others awaiting courses.

In 2021 Fusion applied to England Netball’s CAPS process to gain accreditation and recognition. After electing a committee, completing development plans and finishing paperwork, the club were successfully rewarded their Bronze Accreditation!

Our Aims

At Fusion we aim to provide a competitive and enjoyable netball environment for all athletes to thrive and develop. We strongly believe that a balance of hard work, dedication and fun are key to building success.

We offer both competitive club netball and performance pathways for those wanting the extra challenge.

Our performance aim is to maintain U14 and U16 Regional Netball opportunities while we develop our U12 pathway and strive for senior regional too.

It's important to us to develop all round netballers from ball skills and landing skills to fitness and theoretical understanding.

We believe in giving players the opportunities to dream big and the chance to work hard to achieve those dreams.

Chloe Baker (Level 2)

Chloe launched the Club back in 2015 as a England Netball Level 2 Coach.

In 2020 Chloe was awarded with Grass Roots Coach of the Year for East region at the Goalden Globe Awards and was a Pulse Hub coach for the 2021-2022 season.

Chloe is extremely passionate about netball having played both Prem and Regional netball and still actively playing herself.

As a coach Chloe is keen to give the club members opportunities to develop and thrive and has over 15 years of experience since volunteering from a young age.

Karen Smith (Level 2)

Karen joined as a coach in 2020, bringing with her years of playing experience within the England Netball Pathway and Prem and Regional Squads, so we are very lucky to tap into her knowledge.

Karen is currently working closely with our Alpha U16 group, as well as our seniors to ensure we reach our Regional targets.

Sian Thomas (Level 1)

Sian has been playing for the club since 2016 and has always been a key member of the team picking up admin and coaching across the board.

Sian is always keen to pass on her knowledge and plays and coaches with huge passion.

Since returning from travelling Sian is keen to get back into her role and has also been selected to coach within the Thurrock County Programme.

Kate Collier (Level 2)

Kate Collier joined our coaching team last winter and has become a key member, helping develop the junior members of the club.

Kate has great experience growing up playing Regional netball herself and uses her knowledge to progress the sides.

We're also lucky to have Kate on board for helping us to organise our events.

Amie Hooker (Level 1)

Amie coaches with so much passion and kindness and is fantastic for introducing our young athletes to netball.

You can usually find Amie at a Fusion game, watching and learning ready to put it into practice to support her squads.

Last season, Amie had an exciting role as an Assistant Coach with London Pulse's Orbital Hub where she had the chance to expand her skills!

Amie puts everything she sees and learns into building the best foundation for our girls.

Mayowa Akinjayeju (Level 1)

Mayowa has been at the club for a couple of years and has been an asset since!

Playing in Fusion's senior Force, she is gaining key experience to pass on to players.

Mayowa has grown as an Alpha coach, gaining more experience of coaching at regional and performance events.

We're also lucky to have her organisational skills join the committee as secretary.

Deb came to the club when her daughter joined in late 2017 and went on to join the mummies team too.

Deb's enthusiasm and desire to help the players has seen her grow in roles at the club.

Deb coaches in the Thurrock league and also is supporting as an assistant at Alpha to support her development and that of the players.

She is key to our membership process and goes above and beyond to help as well as passing on her energy to players as a coach.

Deb is constantly keeping the girls kit updated and liaising with suppliers to make sure we look the part!

Deb has now passed her Level One and can be found supporting some of our mini netballers on court.

Ruth Briggs

Safeguarding Officer and Data Protection Lead

Ruth cares greatly for the well-being of club. Ruth ensures any safeguarding issues are handled with the sensitivity required.

Ruth also guides safeguarding training for coaches and helps us to organise relevant First Aid Training.

Dawn took over (with Hayley) as Fusion's Performance Secretary this season, helping to co-ordinate the Alpha programme.

Dawn has been involved in the Thurrock County Pathway, giving her an insight into the demands of the programme.

Katie McGuire

Alpha Coach

Katie came to join the Fusion coaching team summer 22 and we're lucky to have her!

Katie is currently working with the U14 Alpha Squad and applying her experience from coaching and working with young people to ensure they work hard and meet their potential.

Katie also plays in Fire and within our Senior Alpha Squad which helps extend and expand her knowledge.

Kerry McGuire

Kerry joined us as a Fusion coach after helping with some of our camps as a Guest.

Kerry's caring and nuturing side is brilliant for our coaching team and her support to our young and developing Alpha players helps set them up with excellent foundations.

Kerry is currently working closely with ourU12 Alpha to ensure they get the best input to start their journey.

Kyla Divers

Club Coach

Kyla is our newest and youngest qualified coach this season.

Having recently played within the Mavericks pathway and also playing in our Senior Force in Division 1, Kyla has lots of great experience to pass onto her young Falcons.

Kyla loves sharing her shooting advice with the younger players and we're excited to see what she can help her players achieve.

Nikki Madge

Club Coach

Nikki is another of our Level 1 volunteer coaches and supports one of our senior teams.

Nikki is one of our longest serving coaches, having seen Fusion grow from the early years.

Nikki also heads up our Fusion Mummies in the senior league after convicing Chloe to start a team back in September 2017.

Karen Parsonson

Club Coach

Karen is one of our newest coaches! After playing in our mummies and having a role as a manager, we suggested Karen attend a course.

Karen is always keen to support the players and other coaches and we're excited to see her coach her first side this Winter season.

Marie Smith

Club Coach

Marie has been one of the longest serving coaches at Fusion, helping Chloe as a volunteer when the club started and seeing her Year 4/5 team through, before picking up a new Junior side.

Marie also plays for the Mummies and takes her passion and support for the girls to the sideline.

Tierney Musgrove

Although Tierney is away at University, we are sure she is going to be keeping in touch with us and we are excited to follow her university netball journey!

Our Young Volunteers.

We coudn't do it without the support of our Young Volunteers who support our coaches and work with some of our younger sides.

These girls are part of our internal programme; taking part in development sessions as volunteers, receiving feedback and preparing for a future coaching course.

Eve's cheery positivity has rubbed off on our Ninjas who have benefitted from her upbeat sessions.

Eve has been an asset to creating a foundation for these girls, brining in her Alpha Regional Netball knowledge.

Mya's supportive and cheerful nature has made her popular with these new players.

Mya is able to support the girls thanks to her Alpha Regional experience.

As an U14 Alpha player, Kate is using her experience to pass her knowledge onto our Junior players.

Kate has grown in confidence and is now a great help at training; providing girls with good demonstrations and feedback.

Ruby recently returned to our coaching team and is passing on her 9 years of Fusion experience.

Ruby has helped with our year 2 side this season while she settles back into it.

Bow Belle O

Bow is one of the team who support our Year 3 players as they take their first netball steps.

Having years of Fusion experience, it is great to see Bow setting these girls on the right path.

Raven is one of our coaches for our Year 3 players as they start their netball adventure.

Being a part of Alpha and Thurrock County Program during 2022/23, Raven is able to help introduce excellent basics.

Aimee is another new volunteer who supports our Year 2 players as they take their first netball steps.

Aimee was Player of the Season for her team and has great experience as a Regional player.

Aimee has already shown great enthusiasm and care of our little netballers.

Millie joined our volunteer group in summer 23, helping our Year 2s and sharing her Alpha and Thurrock County knowledge.

Millie has shown excellent leadership and is great and keeping the younger girls focused and having fun.

Eva has started coaching Pearls this season and has made an excellent start.

Eva has been able to pass on her defensive knowledge from her regional experiences.

Maci has also been coaching Pearls this season and is working to pass on her attacking knowledge.

Maci has already got 3 regional seasons of experience to pass on.

Amelie volunteers with our youngest netballers and is helping to grow their foundations.

Amelie is also able to pass on her regional experience and shows great care of our players.

Cassie also helps with our youngest netballer and is passing her variety of attacking experience.

Cass is always caring and enthusiastic with our new players.

Jessie was super keen to get involved as a volunteer and has been a great asset to add to our young volunteers.

Her talent and hard work saw her achieve Player of the Season for her team, so has lots she can pass on.

Individual Success.

We are really proud of our players for their success with school and pathway netball. We are also keen to hear about their hopes for upcoming trials and ensure we are providing the best opportunities at club to support them in these challenges.

7 Fusion Girls attend School Nationals

7 Fusion players attended U14 School Nationals with St Clere's. The best achievement for a Thurrock School in over 15 years.

County Success

5 u14 and 2 U15 players were successful for Essex Met County.

We also had players successful in Thurrock County.

A great opportunity to start on the England Performance Pathway.

Mavs Pathway Work

Great work from Fran and Kyla secured them places in their Mavs Hub this season, giving them a great opportunity to work alongside other talented athletes.

Serena also secured her place in the Mavs U19 Player Development Pathway, where she trained hard with her Herts & Essex team.

Emma E and Tillie F were also named in U15 Futures following their succesful trials.

Pulse Performances

Olivia I and Beau B successfully trialled for a Pulse Hub to allow them to train against other aspiring athletes.

Chloe was also a Pulse Hub Coach during the 2021-22 season
